Who We Are
Eritus Education was founded by Sam and Liyang to empower others to achieve their aspirations. Fortunate to have had influential teachers, professors, and mentors throughout our lives, I understand the importance of having someone to guide you on your path ahead.
Today, Eritus works with students from all backgrounds and encourages them to be their best selves. The word eritus, which means “ye shall” in Latin, captures the feeling we aim to inspire in students. 😊
You can. You will. You shall.
Meet Us!
Sam Miller - Stanford ‘16
Sam spent the first half of his childhood growing up in the UK before moving to Orange County for his high school years. He received his B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from Stanford University and went on to work at a social impact finance startup in San Francisco for a couple years. He later joined Box to work on software and data platforms in various capacities, while continuing to tutor high school students in subjects such as Chemistry and Computer Science, and interview for Stanford admissions.
Outside of work, Sam likes to study new languages (project of the month: Mandarin!), often by reading menus at restaurants. He also enjoys sitting at the piano and playing either jazz or improv to wind down the day. In between it all, if time permits, Sam returns to his roots for a few laps in the pool.
Liyang Li - UC Berkeley ‘16
Originally from northern China, Liyang grew up in sunny San Diego and is proud to call it home. She attended Carmel Valley MS and then both Torrey Pines HS and Canyon Crest Academy. After receiving her B.A. in Cognitive Science from UC Berkeley, she spent a couple of years helping hundreds of candidates advance and complete their job search in San Francisco (including editing over 800 resumes!). She then worked for a tech startup in the nonprofit and fundraising industry for over 7 years, leading their business, operations, HR, fulfillment, and legal efforts.
In her free time, Liyang enjoys curling up with a good book and creative writing. When she’s not nose-deep in novels, she’s often composing her next piece on the piano or trying new foods. More recently, Liyang is (slowly) learning how to crochet.
Gaia - Eritus Mascot 🐾
Gaia is an 8-year-old Alaskan Malamute who joined the Eritus family in early 2021. When she’s not cheering on students with her howls, she enjoys Starbucks puppuccinos, sticking her head out on car rides, and splooting.
